Lion of Venice

Lion of Venice, Works on Paper (pastels, pencil, pen & ink, printmaking)
Lion of Venice
This beautiful sculpture was created by Luigi Borro in 1875. It's located in the Campo Manin in Venice. The winged lion is a traditional symbol in Venice, symbolizing St. Mark the Evangelist, the patron saint of the city. The minute I saw it with the strong shadows and its regal look, I knew I had to draw it.
