Whispered Origins
This wheel thrown vessel began as a tall cylinder before it was scored and coated in sodium silicate. The deep faults were created through focused force to the soft internal walls which led to the dry exterior to split crack under the pressure. I wanted to push the fault lines as far as possible, close to collapse, before stopping. This piece speaks to the origin of the medium. Dehydrated clay splits and cracks while waiting for the return of water. All the faults
