George and Christina
The Curious George doll was something that had only existed in a couple of photos and hazy memories. It was gifted to me when I was in the hospital for heart surgery at age 1 and was thought to be long gone for many years. I recently came across it in storage and decided that I would try to work it into a composition.
Seeing Christina's World in a 7th grade textbook was the first time that I remember being moved by a painting. I like how George becomes less cute when placed next to the Wyeth piece, but I can also find humor in the tension between the two figures.
